Digitalisation: Korea Donates Equipment For E-governance

The ICT equipment were handed over to the National Advanced School of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT in Yaounde, December 29, 2017.

The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has donated computers and ICT toolkits to the National Advanced School of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT (SUP’PTIC). The Resident Representative of the agency to Cameroon, Yeon Je Ho handed over the equipment in a ceremony that took place on the school campus on December 29, 2017.

The consignment consisted of 20 HP desktop computers, two laser jet printers, five voltage regulators, a beam projector and ten extension cables. The donation was in line with a cooperation framework between KOICA and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MINPOSTEL) in the implementation of the project for the establishment of a Master Plan and Capacity Building for development of Cameroon e-government. The delivery was received by the Coordinator of the said project, Raphael Nlend and the Director of SUP’PTIC, Felix Watching. The donation also marked the end of a capacity building programme of the e-government project in which 150 government officials were trained on IT governance and project management; software engineering; information system security; and data entry operations and maintenance. The project worth two million US dollars, (circa FCFA 1.1 billion) was initiated in Cameroon with the signing of an MoU between MINPOSTEL and KOICA on March 27, 2015.

“To keep pace with various global trends which have been introduced by high growth of ICT utilization, Cameroon and a developing country can broadly utilize ICT to solidify economic development, strengthen democratic values, improve living standards and reduce poverty levels,” the KOICA Resident Representative said.
