Public Service:10,000 Workers Invited To Clarify Status

The unidentified State employees are expected to throw light on their situation following an order by the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms. 

 Some 10,000 unidentified workers have only one week to clarify their employment situation in their various ministries. The decision is sequel to an order by the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Michel Ange Angouing.

According to the order, failure to comply will lead to suspension of salaries. The measure is in line with the transition from the current management of State human resources characterised by the existence of two softwares, notably the Integrated Computerised System of Human Resources, SIGIPES and Antelope. The new system will merge the two softwares. It is against this backdrop that Prime Minister Philemon Yang instructed that only civil servants recognised by their user ministries be transferred to the new computerised system.

The Permanent Secretary of Administrative Reforms, Chancel Ako Takem, explained that the names of the 10,000 unidentified workers recently published are those who have not been identified as belonging to any ministry. He said workers whose names appear on the list are to meet Directors of Human Resources in their ministries to clarify the situation. Prior to the development, ministries submitted lists of their recognised staff in both the central and devolved services, including all those paid by the Ministry of Finance. According to Chancel Ako Takem, the exercise enabled the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms to come up with the list of State workers who are not recognised by any ministry.

Meanwhile, officials of the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms are still working on lists from different ministries in order to fish out more unidentified workers. The recently published lists of unidentified State workers are available on the website of the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, in the ministry, regional delegations and Departments of Human Resources of each ministry. All civil servants with ‘matricule’ numbers paid by the Ministry of Finance are concerned by the staff verification exercise.
