Three-Year Emergency Plan: Imminent Foundation Stone For North West Projects

The Plan’s Coordinator inspected the various sites in Bamenda on Thursday March 12.

From the look of things, the North West Region will soon welcome new projects to step up development within the framework of President Biya’s three-year Emergency Development Plan. In effect, the Technical Adviser at the P.M’s office who doubles as the Coordinator of the Technical Secretariat of the Three-year  Emergency Plan Committee, Elanga Obam Georges, sized up land allocated for the construction of a referral hospital and  100 low-cost houses in the neighbourhood  of Ntambang- Nkwen, Bamenda III Sub-division  on March 12, 2015. It was against this backdrop that he announced the imminent laying of the foundation stone for the projects to improve the standards of living of the population.   

It emerged from a working session with the Governor and concerned regional technical services that the Head of State’s three-year Emergency Plan is a reality, conceived to support and step up the nation’s development agenda. Elanga Obam Georges revealed that the plan will cover, among others, the construction of two highways in the North West, 100 boreholes in needy rural areas of the Region, construct modern slaughter houses and cold stores to enhance the production of livestock, support agricultural activities and step up facilities to reinforce border security. He urged the population to support, participate and appropriate Cameroon’s move towards emergence by 2035. 

A question-and-answer session dropped curtains on the visit with participants appealing for good feasibility studies before work and concrete action for the North West to emerge with the Bamenda-Enugu Corridor as a major plus to inspire development and prosperity.
